Baker & Baker Towing recently responded to a car towing incident that involved a 2012 Tesla Model S Performance. The vehicle was situated in an apartment parking complex under a carport in Mollala, OR and had experienced a complete loss of power, rendering it immobile. This car towing situation posed a challenge due to the Tesla’s power outage which prevented the activation of the car towing mode.
The Baker & Baker car towing team followed a meticulous step-by-step process in completing the car towing job. Their first task was to lift all four wheels off the ground, which required carefully positioning their truck to the front of the car. Utilizing an autoloader, a mechanized equipment integrated into the wheel lift, the team reached underneath the vehicle and securely gripped the back of the front wheels, pinching them against the front of the wheel lift. This ensured a firm hold on the tires, with grips around the back and front.
Once the Tesla was properly secured on the truck, the car towing team lifted it straight up, elevating it off the ground. To further stabilize the vehicle during transport, a couple of bars were placed under the back wheels. These bars were lifted on either side using sets of small wheels with a pivoting motion, enabling them to be raised into position. Once in place, the bars provided support and lifted the rear of the Tesla.
Ensuring maximum safety, the front end wheels were strapped to their respective hooking points, guaranteeing a secure hold. Both the dolly and the wheel lift were equipped with their own sets of straps, providing an additional layer of protection. The car towing job was completed in 40 mins and the Tesla was transported to the Tesla Service Center on Mission Street SE in Salem,OR where specialized technicians would address the underlying power issue.
