Dundee Landoll Towing: Our First Job with the New Trailer

A Game-Changer for Heavy Hauls

We’ve been in the tow truck business for a while, but this job was special. It was our first chance to use our brand-new Landoll trailer, and it did not disappoint. The Dundee Landoll towing equipment is a game-changer for us, especially for moving heavy loads. The trailer, which is 53 feet long with adjustable axles and a deck that tilts down, can handle large, heavy equipment with ease. It’s also perfect for situations like this, where a heavy RV trailer was stranded with a flat tire. Before, we would have had to rig up a less reliable solution, but now we’ve got a better way.

The Job on the Newberg Dundee Bypass

This particular call was for an F-series pickup truck towing a 30-foot RV trailer on the Newberg Dundee Bypass. The vehicle had a flat tire, and without a spare, the situation wasn’t going to be an on-the-spot fix. In the past, we would have removed the bad wheel, chained up the axle, and hoped for the best while towing it to a repair shop. That method often put extra stress on the trailer, risking more damage because it would have been running on fewer tires, which couldn’t support all that weight. Now, with the Landoll, towing larger vehicles has become safer for jobs like this.

How the Landoll Trailer Works

The beauty of the Landoll trailer lies in its ability to handle jobs that would have been much more difficult before. We started by tilting the trailer down, allowing us to use the onboard winch. The trailer has its own generator that powers this winch, which made it easy to pull the truck and RV up onto the deck. With both the 8,000-pound truck and the up-to-10,000-pound RV on the Landoll, we were hauling around 15,000 to 18,000 pounds. But the Landoll didn’t even flinch. This setup allowed us to move the entire vehicle and trailer combo as one unit without having to worry about towing it the old way.

Tenny and John on the Scene

It took a couple of hours to complete the job. Our team, Tenny and John, made sure the load was secure before setting off. The whole process from start to finish took about two and a half hours. That’s fast considering the size of the load and the complexity of getting everything properly positioned on the trailer. We drove the combo a short distance to Les Schwab Tire Center, where they took over to get the flat fixed.

A Safer, More Reliable Towing Solution

What really stood out to us on this first run with the new trailer was how much safer and more reliable the Dundee Landoll towing system is. Instead of risking additional damage by towing a heavily loaded trailer with fewer tires, we now had the entire vehicle safely on the trailer deck. It was also a lot easier to manage than we expected, and it handled the weight like a champ. This experience proved to us that the Landoll is the way forward for jobs like this.
